A request made by this anon, for me to sing a lullaby to them! I chose not an actual lullaby, but A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, just because that song is beautiful.
I hope you enjoy!

I just had an argument with my dad about homosexuality
he thinks that being gay is “a lifestyle choice”, and that being around other gay people is what turns you gay
what the fuck?
I won’t get into the whole argument, but it was like talking to a brick wall. he’s so convinced he’s right, just because he’s older (he kept saying that I’l “know what he means when I’m his age”), and he won’t even take into consideration that he doesn’t actually know any gay people personally, whereas I have literally DOZENS of gay friends that I’m with all the time.
i know their stories. i know how they think, how they feel, and let me tell you, it’s definitely not a “lifestyle choice”. (I’m not saying it can’t be, but the majority of the time it’s not, and it’s not for my friends)
between the two of us, my dad and i, who is more qualified to say what being gay is like? granted, I’m not gay, but I’m actually knowledgeable first hand. he has no idea because all he’s been around are conservative, straight men and women.
I even said that by his logic, I should be gay too since literally all of my friends are gay. He was quiet for a moment, then when back to the “No, it’s a lifestyle choice” schitck. And I said “Well, if it’s a lifestyle choice, then your argument that being around gay people makes you gay is completely moot.” He thought that over, and then replied “Well, you are who you hang with.” Which started the entire cycle of I should be gay but I’m not AGAIN, and he still wasn’t understanding.
Seriously. This is infuriating. I don’t understand how that logic makes sense in his head.
anyone else had an encounter like this? How did you handle it?
